A Look at the Obvious

A man and I were discussing his issues with unwanted feelings of SSA. He observed, with some frustration, that during his mission he had not struggled with this problem at all.

To me it was one more affirmation of the obvious: he had spent 2 years in healthy, positive relationships with other men, 24/7, while engaged in a serious and worthwhile endeavor. And at the same time his inappropriate attractions diminished to practically nothing.

One of the basic premises of reparative therapy is that overcoming emotional detachment is an important part of the healing process. This is another example of how important (and effective) that step is.
